Welcome letter from Ann Fryberger, President, Board of Trustees
Dearest Newcomers,
Welcome! We are honored with your presence, and we hope we can provide the spiritual home you are seeking. We are excited about our future and invite you to join us in helping heal the world. Our Sunday morning services are designed to not only provide you with a time to pause from the rigors of the material world but to provide you with food for thought as you widen your own spiritual truth. We are interested in getting to know you better, and we are here to offer you a loving and supportive community.
We are a dynamic congregation guided by Unitarian Universalist Principles. We value religious freedom and the individual's search for truth and meaning, but we also want our search to lead somewhere. None of us are perfect human beings but together we open our hearts and hands to a strained and frightened world. We invite you to share your natural talents as you are willing and able by joining one or more of our many programs designed to make a difference in the world. We invite you to link your energy into action with us.
Over the past ten years we have experienced enormous changes yet we have grown stronger and closer as a congregation. We have moved forward in confidence occupying and selling two buildings—never giving up on our dream of a new religious home where we can be a beacon of progressive religion in our region. We continue to evolve from a pastoral to a program congregation as our membership grows. We stand for a just, peaceful and sustainable planet, and we proudly fly a rainbow flag every Sunday.
We have accomplished much yet there is more to do. From our new address on College Street, we anticipate a unique, thriving experience over the next three years:
- We will be in transition for a while in our new space as we develop our Congregational Covenant.
- We will hire a new minister in 2009 with the help of two interim ministers.
- We will develop a governance policy to ease our day-to-day operations.
- We will promote Unitarian Universalism in our region.
- We will experience growth.
- We will strengthen our programming to fit our new home and our social responsibility.
- We will enhance our religious education and youth programs.
- We will value staff with a living wage and benefits and volunteers with congregational support.
- We will learn together, work together, share together, play together and oh yes, eat together.
- Last but not least, we will foster love.
We are excited about our future, and we are glad you are here. We invite you to come often and to become a member to make a difference in your own life, in the lives of those you love, and in our world. WELCOME!
Affectionately yours,
Ann Fryberger
