Act for Justice Initiative
The 1-to-1 "listening visits" held earlier this year are continuing under a new name - Act for Justice Initiative. You are invited to visit our website continually for updated information on the 5 environmental and social justice focus areas that rose to the top of congregational interests: the Environment; Democracy & Community; Economics; Gender & Sexuality; and Race & Racism. Next spring we will gather together to discern how we want to be known and seen to each other and to the larger community to enable UUCD growth.
Woven Basket Offering:
Each Sunday during the offering time we pass a plate, which receives donations for the programs of UUCD, and a “Woven Basket,” which is used to receive donations for a non-profit community program elected by our congregation to receive offerings for that particular month. The recipient of the month receives offerings in the woven basket for the first three Sundays of that month. They also are invited to present their cause at a 9:30am Adult Forum held before one of the services.
Nominations for recipients of the Woven Basket come through our members and must be aligned with our Unitarian Universalist principles and with the mission and vision of UUCD.
To nominate a local non-profit to receive the offerings for a month in the 2020 Fiscal Year (July 2019 through June 2020) you may complete the form enclosed in the May 2019 newsletter, or complete an online form in this link: 2019-2020 Woven Basket Nomination Form Online
