Directions
- Q: How do I get to the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Duluth (UUCD)?
- A: The UUCD is located at 835 W. College St., between the University of MN-Duluth and the College of St. Scholastica. See Home/Directions for a map and directions.
Parking
- Q: Where can I park?
- A: Parking spaces are available in front of the building, along the sides of the driveway and in the parking garage. If you park in a handicapped parking space in the front, you will enter the main level on a ramped walkway through an indoor garden. If you park in the garage, you can take either the walkway ramp or an elevator to the main floor.
Welcomers
- Q: Who can I ask for help?
- A: Any of the warm and friendly people at UUCD will be more than happy to assist you! Welcomers at our Welcome Center are especially anxious to offer information and respond to your questions.. Please let them know if you would like to meet the Religious Education Director or have a tour of our new, green building.
Special Needs
- Q: What if I have trouble hearing or seeing?
- A: You may ask an Usher/ Greeter or Welcomer for an assisted hearing device or for a large-print hymnal or Order of Service.
Sunday Services
- Q: What are your services like? Where can I find out what's happening this Sunday?
- A: You can get a feel for our Sunday services by referring to the sample Order of Service (download load pdf) and by reading selected Sermons. Sermons are both minister and lay led. As themes and topics vary widely, it is beneficial to attend several services to get a sense of what we're all about. To discover what's happening on any given Sunday, you can refer to the newsletter or go to our Services page
Children/Teens
- Q: What about children and teens?
- A: There is a Nursery for children under age three. Religious Education classes are held for children age three up through the sixth grade. Teen programming is on Wednesday nights at 6:00. Also, see our Youth page
If you have children, we suggest arriving a few minutes early on Sunday morning to introduce them to the space and to our Religious Education Director. All children attend the first part of the service with their adult family members. You (with your children) can decide whether they will stay with you for the entire service or if they will leave with other children when the congregation "sings them out."
Coffee Hour
- Q: What happens during Coffee Hour?
- A: Between services we gather informally to chat with old friends and welcome new ones. When you are ready, Coffee Hour can also be a time to learn about further opportunities to connect at UUCD; e. g., through Adult Religious Education, Social Justice, Small Group Ministry, Music, and the Pooley Bookstore.
Religious Education
- Q: What can you tell me about Religious Education programming?
- A: See on the Religious Education link.
Classes For Newcomers
- Q: Are there classes for newcomers?
- A: Newcomers Information Sessions, held on the third Sunday of every month (after the 11:00 service), provide a brief introduction to UUCD and to Unitarian Universalism. Newcomers are also welcome to attend any classes, activities, or events offered at UUCD. These are publicized in the newsletter and in area newspapers and through special mailings, announcements, and posters as well as on this website.
Newsletter
- Q: How can I get a copy of your newsletter?
- A: Our monthly newsletter is posted on this web-site around the first of each month. Or--you can sign up for a three month mailed subscription at the Welcome Center. The newsletter provides information about upcoming sermon topics and about almost everything else that's happening at UUCD.
